Tiny House Project

Bonsack Baptist Church has always valued our ministry partnerships. We partner with ministries like Pathway Dominicana and Straight Street. We also partner with bigger organizations such as the RVBA (Roanoke Valley Baptist Association) and BGAV (Baptist General Association of Virginia).  Often it can be difficult to grasp what exactly they do, as their ministries are diverse across our region and state.

This fall, we as a church family have the opportunity to directly participate in a BGAV mission initiative. Bonsack is hosting a tiny house build, a project done in conjunction with Melrose Baptist Church, the RVBA, and BGAV Disaster Relief.  The goal of the tiny house project is threefold.

• Have tiny houses available to bring to a disaster relief site for temporary housing for displaced people.

• Have tiny houses available to bring to disaster relief sites as permanent homes for people who have their houses destroyed or otherwise can't be rebuilt.

• Have tiny houses available to combat the housing affordability crisis.  

Each tiny house will contain a living room with a kitchenette, a full bathroom, and a bedroom.

Roanoke is hosting the first build and it will be on the church's property. We hope to not only be part of building a house that serves a need, but also to use this as a serving/disaster relief opportunity for you. In Matthew 25, among other places, Jesus calls us to care for those in need.  This is an opportunity to care for those who need it greatly, and to use your gifts and talents to serve people and God and to grow in your walk with Christ.

We encourage you, whether you are an individual, or a group such as a LIFE Group, Bible study group, or service team to be a part of this build.  There are needs for crew chief leaders, builders, eager hands, and supporters.
