Weekly/Monthly Mission Opportunities

Straight street

Downtown Roanoke

Help cook and serve a meal on the first Saturday of each month at this ministry that serves at-risk teenagers in downtown Roanoke. Encourage your friends or church group to choose just one Saturday to help, and our church can easily cover more than a year.

Street Ransom

Roanoke County

Street Ransom will serve as a refuge for young adults recently rescued from sex trafficking in the greater Roanoke area. Because of the nature of the ministry, individuals will not be allowed on the campus, but this is a great opportunity for you or your Bible Study class to donate supplies to this newly-developed ministry.

Colonial Elementary School

Blue Ridge

Bonsack’s Community Life ministry has partnered with Colonial Elementary School through a school sponsorship program. Opportunities helping with playground construction, landscaping in the spring, and more.

Community Garden

Bonsack Baptist Church

Bonsack’s Weekday Early Education Center is starting a community garden. Some produce may go to our food pantry ministry, and volunteers are welcome!

ESL Tutoring

Blue Ridge Literacy

Volunteer to help a refugee become conversational in English, or assist a local resident in becoming literate. Training is provided by Blue Ridge Literacy.

Renovation Alliance

Roanoke area

Join church members who volunteer to improve the homes and lives of low-income homeowners in the Roanoke Valley.

Standing Rock, North Dakota (Family Trip, DATE TBD):

Standing Rock Indian Reservation is another way adults (and students) can engage mission work in partnership with Virginia Baptists. There are many ways to connect with this mission opportunity and help the Natives living on the reservation in North & South Dakota.

Disaster Relief (DATE TBD):

Bonsack is seeking to provide a Disaster Relief Training on site in the next year, and we welcome volunteers to be trained to serve meals, and help with construction or cleaning,

Nicaragua (Family Trip): Summer 2018

Because We Care Ministries, an organization run by missionaries Donald and Pam Gillette, ministers to Nicaraguans through engaging the community and meeting medical and physical needs, all to share the love of Christ in Nicaragua.

Kenya (DATE TBD):

Sodzo International is a faith-inspired nonprofit with a mission to advance the well-being of the most vulnerable children in Kenya. Projects can vary based on the skill set of team members, but can include children’s camps, social or medical work, or farming.
