Bonsack likes to use the term “PURE” to describe our special needs loved ones.
We learned this term from our dear friend David Glover who started PURE ministry and is a friend and mentor of Bonsack’s PURE ministry.
Bonsack serves the PURE community in a variety of ways. First, we have an adult Sunday School class that meets at 10:30 am. for those with intellectual disabilities. We have a wonderful time each week learning about Jesus. We also do special events, engage in service projects and love and pray for each other. Please call Ann Green 793-2577 if you want more information!
PURE Bible Study
The PURE ministry also has a Bible study each Sunday morning at North Roanoke Assisted living. The leaders from Bonsack teach a class that averages over forty people each week. These PURE friends join us a few times a year at Bonsack for special programs.
Parents of PURE Children
For parents who have PURE children, we work with parents to include their children in the typical Sunday School classes offered. We can provide buddies as necessary to support and protect PURE children so that parents can also learn and grow in their faith. Call Carolyn Krisha, should you like to discuss how we best could serve your family.
We also have special events throughout the year for our PURE community. At Christmas the youth have a joint fellowship with our PURE friends. In the past we have hosted a dinner for the Special Families Support group where dinner, crafts and a special picture with Santa was offered.
Bonsack also hosts the Special Families Support group monthly meeting on the second Thursday of each month from 6-8 p.m. The adults have a potluck dinner in the Bonsack Hall, and have different speakers each month to educate and encourage PURE parents. Bonsack provides child care for these precious PURE children and their siblings so that the parents can meaningfully participate in the group.
Needs for our class that meets at North Roanoke Assisted Living from 8:30–10 a.m. on Sundays:

You, the Bonsack Baptist family!
We’re looking for groups who would be willing to plan and staff these respite nights each month. With the guidance of the PURE Ministry team, you could provide dinner, be a friend to one or two PURE adults, or plan activities such as games, art music or recreation. Volunteer groups could be Sunday School classes, choirs, mission groups or any other group within the church.
We believe we are just beginning with our PURE journey, if you would like to help, or would like more information, please contact our PURE coordinator, Ann Green 793-2577.
