On August 11, we used our Walker Technical Organ for the first time in our Sanctuary worship services. This 167-rank, digitally reproduced Aeolian-Skinner organ is a one-of-a-kind instrument that is to be celebrated! We will dedicate this worship instrument to the glory of God with a series of events on Sunday, September 29 with guest artist, Samuel Metzger. You will not want to miss these exceptional events that will be not only a celebration for our church, but also a musical gift to the Roanoke Valley.

3 p.m. — Hymn Festival
Led by Samuel Metzger, this festival will feature musicians from the choirs of
Bonsack Baptist, Thrasher Memorial United Methodist, and Greene Memorial United Methodist, followed by a light reception in the Community Life Center preceding the recital.
5:30 p.m. — Dedication Concert
Samuel Metzger will perform a solo recital that will feature a wide array of organ repertoire, showcasing the expansive breadth of the organ.

The book of Psalms is a collection of poems, songs and prayer that explore praise, lament, thanksgiving, and many other facets of our faith journeys. Upward flag football and cheerleading are coming to Bonsack this Fall. Both are co-ed and available for kids Kindergarten through 6th grade. The word "maundy" is taken from the Latin word from which we receive the English word "mandate," and the word references the mandate that Jesus gave the disciples as he washed their feet after supper: “As I have loved you, so you must love one another." Bonsack's Rec Center is hosting its second 3 on 3 Basketball tournament on Saturday, March 30. Registration is $50/team, 4 players ages 16+ are allowed per team. Teams are guaranteed to play 3 games, with a $200 prize for the winning team.
Come enjoy a fun few hours as a family learning how to fly fish on Saturday, March 23 from 2- 4pm in the CLC (Gym). Parents and children will be instructed on how to tie flies, cast a rod, and more while being instructed by expert fly fishermen. Materials will be provided. Children must be 10 years old or older and participate with an adult. This is a great opportunity for families to spend time together learning a new, fun skill
DePaul Community Resources is hosting the 2019 Opening Doors Conference alongside Special Families of the Roanoke Valley. This conference is intended for families, caregivers, advocates, and those with a desire to inspire an inclusive community for adults and children with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
Mark your calendars now for a Barn Dance on Saturday, March 16, 6-9 p.m in the CLC. The cost is $6 per person, with a $30 max per family. This family friendly event supports the Addy Grace Foundation All-Abilities Playground, which is currently being assembled at the new YMCA in Daleville. Join us on Monday, December 24, Christmas Eve, for Lessons, Carols & Communion: traditional candlelight Christmas Eve services. We will offer two services this year: at 8 pm and at 11 pm in the Sanctuary. Because of the use of candles, these services are not recommended for young children, but a family-friendly Christmas Eve Service will be offered at 4 p.m. in the CLC. These services are free and open to the public.
The Adult Choir, Orchestra and Handbells will present Prince of Peace, a program of seasonal music at 3 and 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
